Biotin/Castor Oil Challenge

20 Jun

cobiotin
Yesterday I added Biotin to my Natural Hair Regimen along with Castor Oil. This is my 2nd week using the Castor oil and I must say that I’ve already noticed that my hair is obtaining mositure longer. With the combination of both Biotin and Castor Oil I hope to acheive great results. I take 1 capsule daily of 5000 mg of the Biotin with a meal. Most likely I will start to post pictures of any results after 1 month of usage but I will keep you updated! Has anyone else used these two combinations in the aiding of hair growth? Leave and share your comments. I’d love to hear from you all:-)

(These are the brands that I’m currently using)
NATURE MADE
BIOTIN 5000 MCG (50 LIQUID SOFT GELS)
FOR HEALTHY HAIR, SKIN, AND NAILS
PURCHASED AT PUBLIX $8.97

HUMCO
CASTOR OIL 6 OZ
ALSO PURCHASED AT PUBLIX $2.99

Everything works differently for everyone so it’s important to remember that. If you want to speed up your hair growth, Biotin is relatively inexpensive (especially compared to other hair supplements on the market) so it is definitely worth giving it a try. As with any supplement, you should speak to a doctor before you start using it.

**Take the poll below and rate your results**

What’s Your Hair Type/Curl Pattern?

12 Jun

As I mentioned to you guys in a previous post, I recently learned what my hair type and curl pattern was for natural hair. I must say that I’m learning lots of valuable information about my hair so far. I understand that in a natural hair journey you really have to do your research to obtain the best results for your particular hair type. My hair type is 3C. Type 3C hair has voluminous, tight curls in corkscrews, approximately the circumference of a pencil or straw. The curls can be either kinky, or very tightly curled, with lots and lots of strands densely packed together and I found this very useful chart with the different hair types for natural hair journey beginners such as I.  What’s your hair type?

(My Curl Pattern 3C)

CURL PATTERNS

TYPE 2 WAVY HAIR

Type 2A- Type 2a is gently, slightly “s” waved hair that sticks close to the head; it won’t bounce up, even when it is layered. 2A hair tends to be fine, thin and very easy to handle. It is also generally easily to straighten or curl.

2B-With this hair type, the wave or curl forms throughout the hair in the shape of the letter “s”. Type 2B hair sticks close to the head; it won’t bounce up, even when it is layered.

2C-Type 2C is thicker, coarser wavy hair that is composed of a few more actual curls, as opposed to just waves. Type 2C hair tends to be more resistant to styling and will frizz easily.

TYPE 3 CURLY HAIR

3A-ype 3A curls show a definite loopy “S” pattern. Curls are well-defined and springy. Curls are naturally big, loose and often very shiny. 3A curls’ circumference are sidewalk-chalk size.

3B-People with Type 3B hair have well-defined, springy, copious curls that range from bouncy ringlets to tight corkscrews. 3B curls’ circumference are Sharpie size.

3C- ight curls in corkscrews, approximately the circumference of a pencil or straw. The curls can be either kinky, or very tightly curled, with lots and lots of strands densely packed together.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

TYPE4  COILY HAIR

4A-Type 4A is tightly coiled hair that has an “S” pattern. It has more moisture than 4B; it has a definite curl pattern. The circumference of the spirals is close to that of a crochet needle. The hair can be wiry or fine-textured. It is very fragile with lots of strands densely packed together.

4B-Type 4B has a “Z” pattern, less of a defined curl pattern. Instead of curling or coiling, the hair bends in sharp angles like the letter “Z”. Type 4 hair has a cotton-like feel. The hair is very wiry, very tightly coiled or bent and very, very fragile; you must take great care when working with it.

4C-Type 4C hair is composed of curl patterns that will almost never clump without doing a specific hair style. It can range from fine/thin/super soft to wiry/coarse with lots of densely packed strands

Inspirational Natural Hair Journey

11 Jun

I love the story of this young lady’s natural hair journey. She basically wore a weave sew-in during the transitional period of her natural hair  journey and now she has belly button length natural hair. Weaves can be used as great protective hair styles. Yes you heard it WEAVES! Go girl;-) Always remember to do what’s best for you!:-) Oh and isn’t she gorg!

Mixed Chicks!

10 Jun

Hey Loves,
My first Natural hair product that I will be trying is the “Detangling Deep Conditioner” by “Mixed Chicks”. Special thanks to the lovely Philly Jams Poet who swears by this conditioner. (You can check her out at: http://phillyzjampoet.blogspot.com/?m=1)

I’ve read a bunch of reviews on this product and according to my hair type of which is 3c, Mixed Chicks seemed to be perfect as recommended. Mixed Chicks deep conditioner will reduce breakage which means more growth. I will be Co-Washing my hair with this conditioner and I will definitely be talking more about Co-Washing and other natural hair products as I develop a hair regimen that best ensures the best results for me. I just learned what my hair type was yesterday.. had no clue… this is all new to me but it’s exciting and I’m looking forward to researching and learning. When it comes to your hair, most of us think we have it figured out.. well speaking for myself. The detail to hair growth is so elaborate and meticulous but I’m certainly up for it! Has anyone else used Mixed Chicks? Please feel free to share any natural hair tips, products,or reviews.

Natural Hair Journey…

8 Jun

I’ve always been a woman to try different hair styles. I’ve always worn either medium or long length styles from curly to straight. I love to switch it up because I get bored with the same look. Currently I’ve been wearing my natural hair. I don’t have a a relaxer or anything but I do color it so technically I’ve been natural for a while. My hair is naturally curly and for the past two months I’ve been embracing it…. I’m enjoying it! 🙂 lets see how long this lasts before I get bored and I’m ready to try something else. All jokes aside, I am very serious about my natural hair journey….excited about the healthiness and growth ahead. Most importantly ladies regardless of what anyone says weather you wear your hair long, straight , curly, short, weave, or natural you are BEAUTIFUL!! Do what makes you feel good. Just because you go natural doesn’t make you above the rest and just because you wear a weave doesn’t make you below the rest. We are all women and as a woman we should embrace, inspire, and uplift one another. I’m bothered that women put themselves in categories dividing us a women (Generally my sisters of color) Natural vs Unnatural sort of speak… That’s ridiculous! The last time I checked we all have the same blood running through our veins. Be YOU & Be Proud!
SO DIVERSE!
